Text | "In the name of God Amen I Samuel Brettell of the township of Cradley in the parish of Halesowen and County of Worcester Mason being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God but calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowing that it is appointed to all men once to die do make constitute appoint and ordain this my last Will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my soul to God my body I recommend to dust to be buried in a decent Christian burial manner and at the discretion of my executors hereinafter mentioned. Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Joseph Brettell and to my well beloved son Edward Brettell all the two cottage houses that I am now possessed of to be equally divided between them with all the appurtances thereunto belonging to be divided between them as soon as my son Joseph arrives at the age of twenty one years at the discretion of my executors or their assigns the rent of the two houses to be received by the executors and to be applied towards the maintenance of my four(?) youngest children till it come to years of maturity item I give and bequeath all my household goods into the hand of my executors to be by them apraise and parted between my children hereinafter named that is to say Thomas Elizabeth Ann Jane Hannah Sarah my funeral expenses and all my debts to be paid out of my goods before they are divided between the above named children and I do constitute and appoint my well beloved brother William Brettell and my well beloved brother John Brettell to be my two executors of this my last Will and Testament made this thirtieth day of October in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight the mark of Samuel Brettell witness William Jones Ed Holt and the mark of Joseph Brettell "21st November 1768 William Brettell one of the Executors within named appeared personally & was then sworn in common form of law , (alike Power being reserved to the other Executors when & so cometh) Before me Rich Green, Surrogate" | |
