"MR. J. W. WARNER AND MISS CROFT
"The marriage took place yesterday at St. Paul's, Knightsbridge, of Mr. John Weston Warner, elder son of the late Mr. Stuart Weston Warner, and of Mrs. M. C. C. Pinching, Ardley House, Bicester, and Miss Joan Croft, elder daughter of the late Mr. Guy Croft and of Mrs. Croft, of North Aston, Oxon. The Rev. Eric Hamilton, the Rev. T. H. A. Morris, and the Rev. L. W. Smith officiated.
"The bride, who was given away by Commander A. J. R. Southby, R.N., M.P., wore a cowl-necked gown of deep cream satin, with tight-fitting sleeves and bodice and a train cut in one with the skirt. Her antique Brussels lace veil (lent by Mr. Eric Charrington) fell from the shoulders, and she also wore a tulle veil held in place by gold leaves, and carried a bouquet of parchment-coloured lilies. She was attended by two children—Lady Rose and Lady Paulina Pepys—who wore cream and gold organdie dresses with gold sashes and carried blue posies, and by two older bridesmaids—Miss Elizabeth Croft (sister of the bride) and Miss Evelyn Pinching. They were dressed in trained gowns of old gold moiré, with close-fitting sleeves and blue straw hats, and carried sheaves of delphiniums. Mr. R. S. Warner (brother of the bridegroom) was best man.
"A reception was held at 31, Lennox Gardens (lent by Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Collins)."
