  John Croft received a Grant of Arms. See College of Arms, MS. Grants 22/162. The Grant of Arms to his ancestor, Sir Christopher Croft, Lord Mayor of York, in 1649, would have been considered invalid, as having been granted during the Interregnum, and therefore John Croft required a new grant.
