Luncheon was kindly offered to committee members of the Society by MRS Paston-Bedingfeld at Oxburgh Hall. Members travelled either to Downham Market by train or to the hall with DR Wright by car. MR Paston-Bedingfeld gave the party a thorough and most interesting tour of Oxburgh explaining family references over the six hundred years or so occupation of the Hall by his family and the legacy of heraldry which may be seen in all the main rooms. Luncheon provided an opportunity to meet MR & MRS Paston-Bedingfeld's daughters and their friends who were past officers of the Society. Sadly, the weather prevented a visit to the gardens but views were obtained from the battlemented roof and the spectacle of rain flowing from water pipes into the moat below could be enjoyed from indoors. An extra surprise was a delicious tea prepared for us by MRS Paston-Bedingfeld. |
